The role of the Education Committee is to promote awareness, disseminate information and develop an understanding in the fields of Herpetology and Herpetoculture.

The Education Committee members often work with Schools, Colleges, Universities and other organizations. They attend shows and put on displays with live reptiles to promote awareness of good practice of herpetoculture and the conservation of reptiles and amphibians.

The Education Committee runs the junior section of the BHS called the Young Herpetologists (YH) children from the age of 5-17 years of age are eligible to join. The continued recruitment of younger members is important to the future of the Society, herpetoculture and herpetology. They are the future Herpetologists!!

Members of the YH receive regular publications electronically consisting of magazines, books, newsletters, articles of interest and are given advanced notification of shows, events and meetings.

The Education Committee promotes good practice guidelines when keeping reptiles and amphibians as pets.

As an ongoing project, the Education Committee are producing a definitive library of care sheets that will be available on the website.
